Javier has a law degree from Escuela Libre de Derecho and is currently a Junior Associate in the area of tax consulting, where he has developed his professional practice. He has more than 2 years of experience advising national and international clients on legal tax matters, whether individuals and legal entities, including the preparation and writing of memorandums and diverse legal advice on tax matters.

He has advised clients from different industries in corporate reorganizations from a tax perspective, working alongside with specialized corporate lawyers, both in-house and external, in order to provide a comprehensive advice to the client. In addition, he has participated in multiple transactions seeking mergers, acquisitions and spin-offs of legal entities, including the preparation of tax cost analysis, preparation and review of tax due diligences and filing of corresponding notices before the governmental authorities.

Javier has expertise in several areas of tax law, such as the implementation of international treaties to avoid double taxation involved in international matters, the preparation and filing of VAT and income tax refund requests, assistance in reorganizations involving real estate projects, as well as the filing and general follow-up of various tax proceedings before the tax authorities.

Before joining SMPS Legal, he worked as a law clerk of civil and mercantile litigation at Ramírez Ornelas, S.C.
