SMPS Legal will sponsor the American Regional Round of the 21st International John H. Jackson Moot Court Competition on World Trade Organization (“WTO”) Law.
MEXICO CITY, MEXICO, March 14th, 2023 – SMPS Legal will sponsor the American Regional Round of the 21st International John H. Jackson Moot Court Competition on World Trade Organization (“WTO”) Law. Our partner Fernanda Garza Magdaleno will be a judge in the Regional Round to be held in Puerto Vallarta on March 15-19, 2023.
The ELSA Moot Court Competition on WTO law is a mock hearing of the WTO dispute settlement system, organized by the European Law Students Association (ELSA), with the technical support of the WTO. Participating teams from around the world prepare and analyze a fictitious case and present their arguments, on behalf of both the plaintiff and the defendant, before a tribunal composed of WTO and trade law experts.
The format of the competition has changed throughout its existence. Today, the competition begins with regional elimination rounds that take place around the world, organized into an Americas Round, an Asia-Pacific Round, two European Rounds and an African Round. The best teams from around the world qualify to participate in the Final Oral Round, which takes place in Geneva, Switzerland.
It is important for SMPS to support this type of initiatives that contribute to the education of future generations.
